Remote Learning
The Academy Selsey Remote Learning Plan
This information is intended to provide clarity and transparency to students and parents/carers about what to expect from remote education if local restrictions require entire cohorts (or bubbles) to remain at home.
Our Remote Curriculum Offer
Our ambition is to provide a remote offer that closely resembles normal in-class lessons as well as provide wider enrichment and wellbeing activities. We offer the following remote curriculum offer as a minimum:
The curriculum offer will be a minimum of 5 hours per day and will include directed activities such as enrichment, physical activity and independent learning.
Curriculum content will be accessible to students including those with SEND
The majority of lessons will involve a live element. This does not necessarily mean a live lesson on Google Hangout or similar and may be a pre-recorded video from an external source, but will aim to have an element of modelling or explanation to start the learning.
There will be some provision of live and remote feedback as we recognise this is a key feature in supporting students.
There will be frequent directed activities around physical activity, enrichment and mental wellbeing as part of the curriculum offer.
Reading is key for all students and will be set at least 3 times per week. This will include students listening to someone reading to them whilst following the text on a screen.
There will be short, frequent assessments to enable students to show their understanding of what has been taught, and to inform teachers’ next steps in their planning
Any students identified as not engaging will trigger a rapid response including contact home to explore why this is the case and to provide solutions to engage. Where a student refuses to engage in any remote learning we reserve the right to direct them to attend in school face to face provision
In order to complete the work from home, all students will need to have access to an appropriate device and an internet connection. If at any point a student does not have either of these things, please call the school as soon as possible.
Educational Provision Plan
We are aware that children may need to be home learning for different reasons for different absence scenarios. Please see below to identify our offer for each scenario .
