Headteacher's Welcome

Mrs Ford: Headteacher

Welcome to The Academy, Selsey, an 11-16 secondary school rated Good by Ofsted in April 2019.

I am delighted to welcome you to our website!

It is my responsibility as your Head Teacher to provide your child with an outstanding education that nurtures their talents, interests and aspirations. In partnership with parents, the community and The Kemnal Academies Trust, I know that we will deliver a memorable experience for your child, the product of which will be happy, inspiring individuals who are equipped to face their future aspirations and challenges.

We are committed to the pursuit of excellence in all that we do and if you entrust your child to us you will see that we work tirelessly to achieve this. We will provide a first rate personal, inclusive education, through a creative and challenging curriculum carefully supported by individual pastoral care.

In May 2019, we took possession of our new bespoke building which features state-of-the-art classrooms, a library, an arts wing, a lecture theatre and IT spaces, as well as purpose-built classrooms for specialist subjects such as science and food technology.

We have very high aspirations for all of our students in terms of behaviour, hard work and demonstrating the commitment to embrace all the opportunities we will share together. We expect every child to leave us having achieved excellent examination results and the skills to enable them to further their education through Apprenticeships or by attending University.

Students will also have the opportunity to excel in and out of the classroom, on the sports field, on the stage, in the community, enjoying a wealth of enrichment opportunities. As a result the Academy Selsey students are happy, hard-working and have a strong desire to learn.

The Academy Selsey is a school at the very heart of the local community and aspires to be the school of choice for all who live here. The school is committed to doing everything possible to support the community in which we live and work and we enjoy strong links with parents, businesses and local organisations. Our students strive to make their parents/carers, school and community proud.

We make it our priority to ensure a smooth transition from primary to secondary through excellent pastoral care. We also work closely with our feeder primary schools, learning from their experience with your child in order that we can deliver the very best start for all.

Prospective parents are welcome to arrange a visit to the Academy to see us during a typical working day on one of the tours we organise each year. Please do not hesitate to contact the school to make an appointment, or to ask for any further information.

I look forward to working with you and your child to ensure that she/he has a fantastic educational experience. We hope that you will find information you need within the website and can gain an insight to school life at The Academy, Selsey.
