Results Day 2021

Here you can find links to all the information we provide to candidates and their parents/carers about formal GCSE and Vocational exams, including JCQ regulations and an exam timetable listing each exam session.

*Summer 2021 Examinations and Grades*

  • On 4th January 2021 the Government announced that summer GCSE and Vocational exams have been cancelled for 2021 due to the effects of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

  • On 25th February 2021 the Department for Education (DfE) and Ofqual announced that Year 11 students will be awarded ‘Teacher Assessed Grades.’ Teachers will submit a grade for each student to the exam boards, based on a portfolio of evidence of work collected for each student, for each of their subjects, throughout Y10 and Y11.

  • Year 11 students still need to work hard up to and including summer term to increase the evidence available to teachers to put towards their final subject grade.

  • GCSE results day is now on Thursday 12th August 2021

  • GCSE Results will be emailed to your student email address during the morning of Thursday 12th August, and a physical copy will be posted home that afternoon. Please ensure you can access your student email before results day so you have no problems on the day.

  • Students will be able to appeal their grade/s

  • There will be an opportunity to take exams during November 2021 should students wish to improve the grade/s they were awarded by their teachers

  • Please see this useful infographic which summarises the process for awarding grades to Year 11 students this summer term:

Some Key information:

  • Formal exams start at either 9.00am or 1.00pm. Students must be ready to enter the exam venue 15 minutes beforehand, at either 8.45am or 12.45pm. There will be revision sessions before each exam that students can attend. Formal exam dates and start times are set at a national level and cannot be changed.

  • Mock exam dates and times are set by our school and communicated to students in advance.

  • All formal exams have been taking place in the Junior Hall of the new school building, and the classrooms adjacent to the Junior Hall have been accommodating students with exam support.

  • Students must wear school uniform to all exams (both mock and formal exams).

  • Please check the Student Details listed at the top of your formal exam timetables: these details need to be corrected before certificates are issued or there will be a charge.

  • Students must not communicate with or distract other candidates whilst in the exam venue. There are severe penalties for students suspected of malpractice.

  • Unauthorised materials will not be allowed in the exam venues and students are searched as they enter the rooms. Any sweets, drinks, stationary or other authorised items MUST be in completely see-through containers with all labels removed. Anything unsuitable will be removed.
